Elopement Photographer in Scotland

Once upon a time…

In early autumn when trees just started to change their colours into various shades of orange, yellow and brown, Hannah and Sean were getting ready for their big day. It was a sunny day after various floods across the country, what a relief to arrive at the venue without rain pouring down. The curved path surrounded by great views and nature took me to Dungarthill House located around the corner from Dunkeld, Scotland which is A LUXURY HIGHLAND RETREAT an elegant, private and accessible Victorian self-catering country house set in its own charming landscape on the Highland fringe. I was stunned by its vintage style and elements of history found in every room. Hanna and Sean choose to elope- have a day for themselves without any stress and distraction, big wedding idea was not for them so has asked me to be their witness to their wedding which made it a small intimate wedding of 4. It was a great honour to be there. Personally, as a wedding photographer, I start to love these types of weddings more and more, it’s great to learn so much about Love, learn about how special, and how unique relationships can be It’s almost like watching another episode of love series!

We managed to find one tree that started to have a vibrant hairstyle in autumnal colours, which was Hannah’s wish to capture the Autumn’s magic on their wedding day. And therewith their best friend and myself, celebrant and lovely Foxy I have witnessed them saying their I do’s. I have come with a terrible allergy and soon spread the sniffing and tears to others. It was a very beautiful and emotional time for all involved

After Ceremony we went for a small walk where I captured some more love for these two beautiful souls.

Eloping is crazily romantic, and it is becoming a more and more popular way to tie the knot instead of having a big shindig wedding day. In the UK more than 3,000 couples elope every year. The traditional meaning of elopement is to run away and to get married in secrecy, typically on a snap decision. In modern times while this does happen, is quite rare, and the more contemporary meaning of elopement is to forget a formal and expensive wedding, focusing on yourselves and your relationship alone.

So Why elope? Here are a few good reasons

1. Save Money

With the average wedding in the UK now costing around £10,000 a wedding day is not cheap and if you would rather use that money towards a deposit on a house or raising a family etc. Then eloping can save you a fortune!

2. Avoid family politics.

We know it.

3. Planning

It can be really stressful to put all of the important things together, it fact so exhausting that the focus on your marriage is minimal, while everything else is in main focus; the perfect look, hair, make up dress, gowns, robes, shoes, cars, people, family, timings, events, schedule.

5. Attention

You may simply not like being in the spotlight and having everyone look at you all day, that is understandable and cool! You don't need to be the Centre of attention for hundreds of people to gawk at to get married; you just need you two! You may simply want it to be about you and your relationship, not a big party.

Hanna and Sean met 8 years ago in the Spring of 2014 and have been together since the summer of 2014! They meet in a remote corner of the Highlands of Scotland not far from where Hannah grew up - Sean had moved up for work. They spent the summer working together, spending time together and falling in love. As time passed they conquer the difficulties of a long-distance relationship. Not long ago they got their dog Foxy, moved in together and haven't looked back since!

I wish you all the best on your new Chapter in life, it was a great pleasure to be there for you- Patrice
