So you recently been thinking about eloping in Scotland This short blog will show you all the reasons why you should Elope in Scotland. You can make your wedding day as big and as small as you wish. Scotland has it all: from stormy beaches and cliffs, to endless countryside and of course big moody mountains in Glen Coe- a view straight from famous Harry Potter movie.

Let’s dive into it, a small elopement is usually anywhere under 10 people. So there are many ways in which you can Elope in Scotland. It can be few friends and witnesses or just the two of you. Definitely best option if you rather avoid the crowds ( while hugging so many people) and if you are on a budget. Perhaps you may choose to spend money differently, like booking another holiday? Recently I have attached a small elopement where I was chosen to be the witness ! The couple chosen do avoid all the fuss with wedding planing and spending and have a lovely weekend away! They have chosen to stay in Luxury Hideaways which is a 5 star Luxury lodge based in Angus, UK with stunning views and spa facilities and panoramic countryside views. They are in fact Scotland's Ultimate Honeymoon Destination!

Some rules if you want to get married in Scotland

If you are wanting to get married in Scotland and wondering how to go about it you can find more information here

Legal Advise for Scottish Elopement but generally speaking it is advisable to check timescales with your local registration office, to avoid having to postpone your marriage ceremony. The registrar must be in receipt of your completed marriage notices no later than 29 days before the intended marriage but it is advisable to give 10 – 12 weeks’ notice, to allow time to check your notices and accompanying documents and ensure that there is no impediment to the proposed marriage.

It was lovley assisting these two on thier wedding day, hearing their touching story and be part of ceremony! Another teardrop in my eyes and it just feels like I am on ‘live’ during yet another romantic movie! So honored to be doing what I do and as a wedding photographer observe all sorts of love.
